Industry Accepted Data Standards

These Data Standards have been developed by the pastoral farming industry to support efficient data exchange across the industry. They are designed to be used by product owners, analysts, architects and developers in developing and/or re-aligning applications and integrations.

Organisations that aim to be accredited under the Farm Data Code of Practice should be aligning their systems to these data standards, and utilising these standards when developing integrations.

There are currently no Data Standards in the draft stage. Please let us know if you have any ideas for future Standards to be created.

Rezare Systems Ltd has been contracted by DairyNZ and the Red Meat Profit Partnership to develop the Farm Data Standards. Broad industry consultation is a key feature of the development process and Rezare invites comment and suggestions on any aspect of the Data Standards.

The Animal Breed List contains a list of Cattle, Sheep, Deer, and Goat breeds as part of the Animal Data Standard.

The Animal Feed List is comprised of the feed categories and types used in the 'Supplementary Feed Observation' found in the Pasture, Grazing, and Feed Data Standard. It is also used in the 'Feed Type Observation' section of the Animal Data Standard.

The purpose of the urn:nzl:pri: namespace is to support a list of unique identifier namespaces for use within the primary sector.

The Farm Data Standards is one of three data integration initiatives driven by the pastoral sector on behalf of farmers. The Farm Data Code of Practice, and the Data Linker are complementary tools aimed at getting data moving across the primary sector - securely, efficiently and within a transparent framework. The initiatives are funded by DairyNZ (through the Transforming the Dairy Value Chain programme), the Red Meat Profit Partnership and the Ministry of Primary Industries through the Primary Growth Partnership.
